The Norwegian Football Federation believes that VAR could be relevant in the Elites series after the success of the World Cup

– We see that it is introduced internationally and can also follow. We have started a process, but it is still too early to say when the VAR will be used in Norway, "said Nils Fisketjønn, Norwegian Competition Manager at NTB.

In June, NFF was in a meeting with the best Norwegian clubs and discussed the possibility of introducing video judgments in the Norwegian elite series. Fisketjønn found the meeting useful and further discussions are planned after the summer.

– The clubs are waiting positively. In addition, we will have a meeting with football leaders in other Nordic countries in August to hear their views. It is not unthinkable that there is cooperation within the Nordic region if we choose to opt for the VAR at a later date. For the moment, no NFF policy has been adopted.

Spleiselag

A possible introduction of VAR should cost between 15 and 20 million kroner. The costs are covered by a sharing team between NFF and the best Norwegian clubs.

– This is certainly an important element. FIFA has financial muscles that make the introduction of VAR not problematic. For Norwegian football, it will obviously be a question of cost. That's why, therefore, many of the best clubs are positive, but waiting.

Judge Terje Hauge clearly states that he wants video-murder sentences, but he is aware of the high costs that such an investment entails.

– There are significant costs associated with both the investment in the system and then the operation. A separate VAR room must be created where the referees follow the matches. We have a continuous dialogue and will be ready when Norwegian football is ready. But the best Norwegian judges want VAR and think it's exciting – it's clear, Hauge told NTB.

On all expectations in the World Cup

VAR has become a hot topic in several matches in Russia. Judge Hauge is nevertheless impressed by the fluidity of her appearance.

– He exceeded all expectations. It must be remembered that it was the first time that it was used in a major league. FIFA must respect that they have already bet on VAR now.

However, the 52-year-old man emphasizes the importance of being involved only in a completely obvious refusal, whether it will be a long-term success.

– There will always be discussions. Especially when VAR breaks in 50/50 situations. This can happen three or four times too much during the championship. Then we can watch the pictures again and again without being in agreement. It is important that VAR be used correctly, but it is still early in the process and I think it can be very good with more experience.
