The decision reflects the organizers' desire to reflect on the content and format of the concert and that the concert has had a tough economy in recent years, according to a press release on Tuesday.
– We have found that concert financing is very demanding and therefore wants to use next year to develop a new concert format. The ambition is to revive the concert in a new costume in 2019. Together we will see how the concert can be adapted to more platforms than traditional linear television, says Olav Njølstad, director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
Since 1994
The concert is part of the Nobel Peace Prize for Research and Information AS, which does not receive public support and which in recent years was exclusively based on contributions from Norwegian sponsors and ticket receipts.
According to Dagbladet, Rema 1000 chose not to renew the sponsorship agreement after three years of contribution.

– A stronger economic base
– The reputation of the Peace Prize and the high status of the concert in Norway and abroad offer us many opportunities. We want to spend time developing the format and strengthening the funding beyond the support of the strong Norwegian partners who have followed the concert for many years, says the producers of the concert, Odd Arvid Strømstad in Warner Bros. Norway and Kristian Kirkvaag in Gyro.
– By ensuring a stronger economic base, we will be more free in the choice of format and profile that they will add.
The Crown Prince was among the guests of the concert last year, led by British actor David Oyelowo. John Legend, Lukas Graham, Zara Larsson, Matoma and Sigrid were among the artists on stage
