The group match and the first round of the race are over and there are only eight matches left until the trophy is raised at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow on July 15th.
One of the biggest debates of this championship. At the previous World Cup, target technology was on the agenda for the first time without the fierce focus.
However, VAR (Video Assistant Referee) has really been put on the agenda. The small interruptions of the referee, the television panels and the subsequent discussions were a big discussion. Not only did the experts repeatedly disagree with the decisions – when and how the VAR should be used was also a topic.
24 situations were taken with VAR. Penalties were imposed, sanctions were withdrawn and objectives were given and canceled.
On Friday, the quarter-finals will begin when France and Uruguay compete for the first quarterfinals. Maybe there would be two other teams without the VAR

Most groups were not involved in the outcome. It is only in the extremely regular F group – with the Swedes in the lead – and the H group, that video judgment was crucial in the result. The other six groups would probably send the same teams to the eighth finals, but perhaps with Portugal as group winner in front of Spain in group H.
Maybe Senegal would become the biggest loser. victory and top groups, rather than smoking. But it is impossible to say how things would happen without video judgment.
