– We think our program this year has become fantastic – really. The awareness of each position has been very strong this year. Tromsø is a city with a good literary environment. CHILDREN: The theme of this year's edition of the word potion is "child". Therese Bakkevoll, Irene Larsen, Ingvild Solstad-Nøis and Morten Wintervold believe they have put together a comprehensive and varied program. The word potion is a matter of choice for the theme – and this year the choice fell on the "kids".
"We noted in a quote from Morgenbladet that Karl Ove Knausgård had said that children were underrepresented in contemporary literature – that the subject had not been taken seriously – we started to discuss it – is it? it's really true, we've started seeing books, and we do not feel the same way, "Morten Wintervold says.
That the harvest is characterized by discussions about children, infants and childhood, of course, can not know the committee, but they are happy to have also addressed the issue of timeliness.
During the festival, there will be authors who have children as subjects in their books, children's writers will be published and the children's program also works hard.

New Year is a collaborative project with literature festivals in other Nordic countries. Thérèse Bakkevoll explains that the festival wishes to obtain the promise made by the authors nominated for the Prize of literature of the Nordic Council of the different countries.
