Wellesley Petroleum, operator of production license 925, made a small oil discovery about 5 kilometers southeast of the discovery of Nova in the North Sea.

In addition, the company drilled a well of evaluation. It was dry.

Preliminary calculations of the size of the discovery are between 0.5 and 1.3 million standard cubic meters of recoverable oil. It is between 3 and 7 million barrels of oil equivalent.

Operators will evaluate found found with other nearby prospects and results with regard to additional follow-up, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate writes in a press release.

Wells were drilled by Transocean Arctic, which will now drill another well for Wellesley in the same license.
