"Our decision to build a new large power station in Namsen is good news for NTE, the local community, the river salmon and our common climate," said Jon Håvard Solum of the NTE in a statement.
The new plant will produce renewable energy each year up to 50,000 barrels and will be adapted to the needs of a national salmon river drawer. Construction will begin in the first half of 2019 and the plant will be completed in 2023.
– In Norway Norway hydroelectric power, 50% of energy consumption is still fossil. Namsen's renewable hydropower offers opportunities for developing a more environmentally friendly society and creating local jobs, he says.
The file will be finalized by the NTE General Assembly on 21 November.
