Now that news of Matthew Stafford’s likely departure has arrived, the lists of potential landing points have arrived.

“A pessimist would look at his career and mark him as a golden fool, a mercurial player whose high-end game teases a level he never reaches; an optimist would look at the head coaching streak he’s had and wonder what Stafford could achieve if paired with a creative attacking spirit, who has recently helped other quarterbacks achieve exceptional performances.

“The teams are trying to find out the price. There isn’t a definitive compensation plan to make it happen yet, but some in the league are wondering if a first-round player and multiple second-round selections will make it happen.
