Nothing – the new brand of gadgets from OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei – and all the teasing around the company’s upcoming wireless Ear (1) headphones got us excited. That’s especially true now that Nothing has revealed some of the key specs for its headphones.
According to the company, the $ 99 Wireless Earphones (1) with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) will provide impressive battery life for budget headphones, providing up to 24 hours of total battery life with ANC on and up to 34 hours. hours of battery life without.
This is the total time provided by a full charge of the carrying case, which charges your earbuds when not in use, much like Apple’s AirPods and many other wireless earbuds. We don’t yet know how long the buds can last in a single session without these on-the-go refills.
On top of that, the charging case packs a 570mAh battery and can be charged wirelessly – a high-end feature typically reserved for headphones more expensive than the expected cost of the ear (1). And just 10 minutes of charging the case would give you up to 6 hours of ANC compatible playback, or up to 8 hours without ANC in use.
Nothing will reveal all the details around the Earphones (1) at an event on July 27 in a week from now. Pei shared a preview of the company’s Concept 1 headphones in March, but it’s currently unclear how the finished project will resemble the bold look of the preview device.
Official photos of the Ear (1) charging case suggest an equally translucent allure, although a teaser illustration from May shows a very different kind of stylized figure.
Earlier this month, Tom’s Guide audio editor James Archer wrote about his enthusiasm for the Nothing Ear (1) headphones, which promise active noise cancellation at a fraction of the price of the $ 249 AirPods Pro. . It remains to be seen (and heard) whether Nothing’s efforts will match the fit, audio quality, and ANC performance of Apple’s premium headphones.
If you are also excited about the ear of nothing (1), – so excited that you are willing to shell out some extra money to own one of the first 100 existing pairs – then you can place a bid now to get a limited edition model.
Nothing has partnered with clothing retailer StockX to deliver the platform’s very first tech drop. The headphones will be sold to the top 100 bidders, with each case individually numbered to reflect the bidder’s place on that listing. In other words, if you place the highest bid by the time the auction ends, you will get the case marked “1/100”.
The auction ends today (July 21) and the highest bid is at $ 850 as of this writing. However, a bid just north of $ 200 from now would still net you one of 100 pairs. So be sure to take a look at the StockX auction if you want to trade the money in your pocket for a little bit of nothing.
