Nuggets 114, Knicks 89: Scenes from the blowout defeat Nerlens Noel was too bad to finish

The Knicks played hard Friday night against the Thunder, which is good, but certainly not great. New York’s Sunday opponent, the Denver Nuggets, is unquestionably brilliant. Still, the Knicks came out like ass again, so naturally they were wiped off the ground pretty much from start to finish.

I refuse to show the highlights of this abomination, but if I did, they would belong to the starting zone of Mitchell Robinson (11 points, 5 rebounds) and Julius Randle (29 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists). The rest of the team … well, they sucked. Let’s break it down:

  • Mitch and Randle: 16-21, 40 points
  • rest of the Knicks: 16-53: 49 points

It might not be fair to make out a piece of crap in the Knicks’ septic tank, but tonight I’d like to highlight the failures of save center Nerlens Noel, who scored 1 point and 4 rebounds in a horrible 11. minutes of action. The Knicks were outscored by 21 points in those 11 minutes, and Tom Thibodeau continued to bring Randle and Mitch back into the game out of disgust at Noel’s game until almost the very end of the night. The Knicks play Charlotte tomorrow, so watch out for fatigue from Randle, who played 38 minutes in a blowout. Noel couldn’t even get burned at the end of the game, as Thibs went for the front zone of Ignas Brazdeikis and Kevin Knox. Taj Gibson can’t get there fast enough.

It’s all happening now. Benny has the recap.
