NVIDIA dominates the Steam Hardware and Software Survey, again

General Trends in Computer Hardware in January

Each month, Steam publishes its survey listing the various hardware and software used by its users. Here are the general trends for January 2019. The graphics card division was entirely dominated by NVIDIA, with an overall share of 73.97% of all GPUs used on Steam.

The GeForce GTX 1060 was the most used GPU on Steam with a user share of 14.87%. The map was down 0.52% from 15.39% in December 2018.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and 1050 cards rank respectively second and third with a usage share of 9.34% and 5.19% respectively on Steam. On the other hand, the high-end NVIDIA Pascal cards, the GTX 1080 and GTX 1080 Ti, respectively occupied the 8th and 10th places with a user share of 2.84% and 1.64%.

AMD did not have a single entry in the top 10. The most used graphics processor, the Radeon R7, ranked 15th on the list with a 1.15% share of users. Interestingly, the Radeon R7 has experienced a percentage growth of 0.19% over last month, the highest of all other GPUs.

Of the 20 most used GPUs on Steam, 17 came from NVIDIA.

We can only hope to see this list change a little after the release of mid-range cards like AMD Radeon Navi and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.
