Last week we reported that NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3060 is set to launch on February 25, but we also saw various retailers listing the card for pre-orders, and some users even got their hands on the cards weeks before the release. launch. We have now received reports that an official Pakistan-based Palit graphics card dealer known as ZAH Computers is openly selling RTX 3060 cards at shockingly high prices.
Pakistani Dealers Break NDA, Openly Selling NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Graphics Cards Weeks Before Launch at Discounted Prices
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card is supposed to have a starting MSRP of US $ 329, but we know MSRPs don’t mean much these days. However, ZAH Computers, an official reseller (AU Technologies as the main distributor) of Palit graphics cards based in Pakistan, is selling the GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card 16 full days before these cards are officially released for sale.
Usually South Asian retailers and distributors don’t care much about official NDAs and we find that to be the case here. To top it off, this custom Palit GeForce RTX 3060 variant was offered by the same retailer for an outrageous price of US $ 750 or PKR (Pakistani Rupees) 120,000. To put it in perspective, that’s more than double the MSRP. The dealer goes on to justify the pricing by blaming the high tariffs and import prices for this card which are simply excuses that these distributors and dealers are known to hide behind and have been doing for quite a while now.
The other thing is that these prices won’t just drop when the official launch takes place on February 25th. Unlike the preliminary pre-order prices in the EU and US markets, Pakistani prices will remain intact and will only increase given the rising inflation and the steadily declining value of the PKR against the USD.
We have been told that these ZAH computers have sold several units and are readily available to buyers who are willing to pay tiered prices. With the same amount of money you can get NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3070 or, if you’re lucky, even an RTX 3080 graphics card, but that’s the price you have to pay to live in an entirely non-market. regulated.
While NVIDIA cannot take any action on the current scalping situation, we hope that at least distributors like these will be treated with more stringent actions given that they are officially in partnership with Palit which happens to be a major NVIDIA AIB partner in the region. .
