NVIDIA hints at launch of RTX 30 laptop graphics on January 12

The cards are expected to benefit from improvements in the Ampere architecture, such as faster ray tracing, and could add resizable base address register technology that improves communication between the CPU and GPU. Existing RTX 30 chips are technically capable, so it may just be a matter of activating the feature through software.

NVIDIA may also introduce a non-Ti RTX 3060 for desktops at the virtual event.

There are still unanswered questions that may have to wait until the end of the presentation. It is not certain that the RTX 30 graphics of laptops compare to their counterparts. Energy consumption is also a mystery. RTX 30 cards consume a lot of power and it is not certain that NVIDIA will control this consumption for portable machines.
