Nvidia Shield supports PS5 and new Xbox controllers

Use these next-gen controllers wisely on your streaming device.

Nvidia update 8.2.2 deployed Tuesday, bringing with it welcome support for the PS5 and Xbox controllers that the premium streaming device previously lacked despite consoles having launched months ago. Now, Shield users will be able to use their DualSense or Xbox Series X / S controllers to play Android or GeForce Now games offered through streaming devices.

Any of these new generation controllers can now be paired via Bluetooth. On the PS5 DualSense, do this by holding the Playstation and Share / Clip until the LED flashes blue. On newer Xbox controllers, connect by holding the pair button until the Xbox button flashes.

Along with additional console support, the update also introduces new games, fixes bugs, improves volume control for Denon receivers, and adds support for remote controls and the Control4 app.

Nvidia Shield devices are among the best streaming boxes you can buy through their powerful AI upscaling features. But they’re certainly not cheap: the Shield TV sells for $ 150, while the Pro version – which comes with a pair of USB ports, 3GB of RAM, and supports Plex media service – will set you back around. $ 200. These are streaming devices that make a lot of sense to the gaming crowd, which makes this week’s update for next-gen controllers a big win for gamers who were able to miraculously buy themselves – same one of the consoles.

At the very least, players now have the option of using the latest and greatest controllers to play elsewhere.
