Ocasio-Cortez asks if climate change means we should stop having children

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Parliament's representative, believes that climate change is such a serious threat to humanity that it is legitimate for worried young people to wonder if they should have children.

"Our planet will be a disaster if we do not return this ship and it is as if, in the general opinion, there is a scientific consensus that children's lives will be very difficult" Ocasio-Cortez said in a live video on Instagram showing she cut vegetables in her kitchen.

"And that brings, I think, young people to have a legitimate question, you know," Is it going to continue to have children? "

She also said in the Sunday evening article that freshly graduated couples from the university are often struggling with a student loan debt of $ 30,000 to $ 40,000, making the decision even more difficult.

Ocasio-Cortez, a self-proclaimed Socialist Democrat, has made climate change a key issue, introducing the so-called Green New Deal with Massachusetts Democrat Senator Ed Markey.

Proponents say it is crucial to curb extreme weather, while skeptics see the plan as a costly mess.

New York lawmakers also attacked California Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein, who on Friday mocked a group of leftist protesters who urged her to support the Green New Deal.

"Do you know what's interesting about this group?" Feinstein told activists after confronting her at her office.

"I've been doing it for 30 years. I know what I'm doing. You come here and you say it must be my way or the road. I do not answer that, "said Feinstein.

"I was elected, I just run. I was elected by a majority of one million votes. And I know what I'm doing. So you know, maybe people should listen a little bit.

Ocasio-Cortez suggested that Feinstein's longevity was not worth much, as little had been done to deal with the threat to her.

"The idea that I've been working on this project for the last 10 years, uh, it's like it's not good enough," Ocasio-Cortez said.

"For example, we need a universal sense of urgency, and people are like trying to come up with diluted proposals that will kill us. A lack of urgency will kill us, "she continued.

"The problem has gotten worse. So I do not think that working on a problem for 30 years is what qualifies as a qualified person to solve it. "
