While President Trump repeatedly attacks the New York Times and other providers of "false information", New York Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez takes on her own enemy of the media : the New York Post.
In an interview on Sunday at the Yahoo News podcast "Skullduggery", a new New York congressman explained why she was supporting the boycott of the newspaper organized by Yemen-US bodega owners, calling the post office attack against his friend the representative Ilhan Omar "beyond" the pale. "
Since being elected last November, the Post has ruthlessly attacked Ocasio-Cortez for its progressive ideas and opposition to Amazon's plan to move its headquarters to Queens. The congressman described the newspaper as "toy" by media mogul Rupert Murdoch (owned by News Corp. and Fox News.)
But she said the cover of her diary was not the reason she tweeted the boycott of Post over the weekend.
"It can be annoying or annoying, but I did not call him when they were chasing me," Ocasio-Cortez said of the newspaper's coverage by the Post Office in Congress.
Rather, she said she was motivated by the newspaper's cover page last week, highlighting Omar's controversial reference to the Sept. 11 terrorist attack as a case of "someone did something".
"It's your thing," shouted the cover of the post on a photo of the Twin Towers in flames on 9/11.
This "was just beyond the palm, you know?" Ocasio-Cortez said on "Skullduggery". "There is an aggressive policy. There are people who will not be fair to you and things like that, and I understand that is part of the area that goes with it. But, you know, I think that's unacceptable. "
"And also, I think it's important to say that I did not call for a boycott of the New York Post," she said. "What I am, I amplify, amplify the organization of what is happening on the ground, and I really think that there is a substantive difference between the two. "
On Sunday, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted about the boycott.
Her tweet then linked the boycott call to the Post by Dr. Debbie Almontaser, community activist and former director of the Brooklyn Khalil Gibran Academy Public High School.
Asked about Skullduggery if this tweet did not "implicitly" support Post's boycott, Ocasio-Cortez replied, "I agree. I approve it.
Ocasio-Cortez said his gesture was more of a show of support for those organizing the boycott.

"For me, my point of view is that my goal is actually less to endorse it, that my goal is less the Post Office and [more on] the many bodega owners and the empowerment and solidarity of immigrant groups in New York, "she said. "That's how it was exciting and inspiring in this action. Because these are the same people who have closed almost every bodega in New York to protest the Muslim ban. And what it does is that it elevates the consciousness of all New Yorkers. "
