Although it has remained fairly stable since its launch in October, the stock of Oculus Quest 2 is starting to decline as the Black Friday shopping season approaches.
During the launch of the headset, Facebook said Road to virtual reality the company planned to manufacture “a lot more” Quest 2 units than the original Quest headset, which was very difficult to find during the previous holiday shopping season.
Despite additional challenges for manufacturing and logistics due to the coronavirus pandemic, inventory of Quest 2 has been relatively easy to find both at Oculus and at third-party retailers so far. However, the headset is starting to see shipping delays that are likely to worsen as Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the 2020 holiday shopping season approach.
Oculus Quest 2 and Rift S inventory check
We have checked inventory availability for direct purchase on Oculus.com for Quest 2 (64GB), Quest 2 (256GB), and Rift S in all regions where headsets are sold. The latest shows the cheapest 64GB version of the headset, with small shipping delays to most areas. We expect these delays to increase and start to spread in the 256GB version as holiday shopping ramps up.
Meanwhile, the availability of the Rift S remains quite strong so far, although less demand for the headset is expected as Oculus has announced that the Rift product line will be discontinued in 2021, the company focusing entirely on standalone VR headsets with optional PC connection.
