Ohio state wowed punters with its Clemson annoyance, but the Buckeyes are still listed as Alabama touchdown underdogs for the college football playoff national championship game on Jan. 11.

The Crimson Tide are the 7-point consensus favorites over the Buckeyes in the national title game (8 p.m. ET, ESPN).

Ahead of Friday’s playoff semifinals, William Hill’s Caesars Sportsbook nabbed Alabama as an 11-point favorite against the Buckeyes in a lead on a potential championship game. However, after Ohio State strangled Clemson 49-28 in the Sugar Bowl, sportsbook reposted Alabama as a 7-point favorite against the Buckeyes.

The line briefly ticked up to Crimson Tide -7.5 on Friday night, but sat down to -7 in nearly every sportsbook on Saturday morning.

The Crimson Tide also comfortably won their semifinal, edging Notre Dame 31-14 in the Rose Bowl. Alabama have been favored in 79 straight games and 151 of their last 152 total to enter the championship.

The Championship match over / under total is set at 76, making it the highest total for a Championship match in the BCS and College Football Playoff eras.

The semi-finals were a boon for most sportsbook, with the two underdogs – Notre Dame (+19) and Ohio State (+7) – covering the gap. The majority of the betting public strongly sided with Alabama and Clemson and took him on the chin.

A punter from Indiana, however, won big over the Buckeyes. FanDuel reported taking a $ 1.3 million Ohio State +7.5 bet from a bettor the bookmaker identified only as “The Indiana Man.”
