In addition to being the only place to buy specific games on PC, Epic has not presented a convincing argument for its showcase. Until we can strengthen a very fragile market, we should expect this wave of buying to continue.
The exclusive Epic offers will not stop anytime soon. The company will continue to pamper the games of Steam while the developers join the attractive distribution of 88% of the revenues of the Epic store. Tim Sweeney has already confirmed it, but he really has nothing to say. A visit to the Epic store tells you everything you need to know. This is what Sweeney said in a Recent Tweet:
"We had a lot of discussions about [exclusivity deals] since GDC. Epic is willing to continue signing financing / exclusivity agreements with interested developers and publishers, regardless of their previous projects or announcements regarding Steam, " The founder of Epic Games said.
The store is currently a dilapidated barebone digital retailer that lacks many features.
Of course, Epic is working on turn the store into something that closely resembles Steam, but at present, there is only one reason to buy in the store: timed exclusives such as Metro Exodus, Division 2, Control, The outer worlds, and now Borderlands 3. Plus, free games do not hurt either.
It's odd that Epic signs these chords when the showcase needs so much work.
Products are not properly described, advertised or presented in an attractive way (this list Borderlands 3 is particularly terrible). If you did not already know what you wanted to buy, you would probably avoid the store and go instead to Steam. It's a place where you run to catch what you need and run back, not a place where you sail. And it's very, very bad for any shop.

The crux of the problem is that publishers and developers are trying the store before the players, at least en masse. But publishers would not do that willingly. They probably know something that we do not like the official sales figures and data to back up Epic offers. Or maybe Epic just throws more money and promises more revenue with time for every sale.
We do not know the exact sales figures of the Epic store, and it is possible that the popular opinion of disdain does not reflect the overall store numbers. He could very well get out despite the fact that he is plunged into a public relations storm.
Epic released some figures from MAU that look pretty goodbut there are things they have not revealed, such as how many of those 85 million players have signed up just for free monthly games, or just to play Fortnite. Epic Games Store is technically the launcher of Epic games, and players are asked to launch it to play Fortnite.
In the end, we should not expect these offers to go anywhere. Epic must give players a reason to buy in his store during this period of critical weakness. And for now, all he really has is exclusivity.
There is also the commercial element that feeds everything. The publishers want to maximize their profits and Epic will continue to make noise around his huge wallet to secure the big games. But this seems like a backward strategy. Epic must strive to make its store a better place to buy, play, and play games before attempting to defend some of the industry's biggest AAA titles.
