CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Emergency teams are located at the scene of a "security investigation" aboard an aircraft at Charlotte Douglas Airport.

In a statement to Channel 9, airport officials said: "An investigation is underway on a security incident aboard an aircraft. More information to come."

Journalist Stephanie Tinoco was present as dozens of people were escorted off the plane and first responders invaded the plane.

Officials confirmed that the investigation involved a Jet Blue jet from Charlotte and bound for New York on Sunday morning.




A JetBlue spokeswoman told Stephanie Tinoco of Channel 9 that the flight had been "delayed for extra security checks as a precaution".

"JetBlue Flight 218, which was due to take off from Charlotte in New York this morning, was delayed for extra security checks as a precaution. Local law enforcement is on site and we are working to get customers to New York as soon as possible. "

A passenger from Rockingham, North Carolina, David Lathan called the WSOCTV newsroom shortly after leaving the plane. He said that their plane was rolling towards the runway when they had to stop.

Lathan said that the pilot then told the passengers that there had been a "bomb threat".
