With only six games remaining in the regular season, the Buckeyes needed a win to bounce back after two consecutive losses to stay in contention for an outstanding offer for the NCAA tournament. They got what they needed on Wednesday night. Behind a performance of 22 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks from Wesson, Ohio, defeated Northwestern, 63-49, at Schottenstein Center on Wednesday night.
The Buckeyes improved their overall record to 17-9 and are now 7-8 in the Big Ten.
Despite a stormy first half with a nasty basketball game by both teams, the state of Ohio rallied and shot 46.3 percent on the field and assisted 25 brands. Northwestern, on the other hand, made only 31.6% of its throws.

Wesson was the only double-digit Buckeye. Kyle Young added eight points and four rebounds, while Duane Washington Jr. had eight points and five rebounds.
Ohio State had 27 bench points.

Andre Wesson left the game holding his forearm while he remained 1:23 in the first period. He left the bench with coach Jeff Deits and headed to the locker room. He returned for the second period, however, after the x-rays were negative and he was pronounced injured in the elbow.

C.J. Jackson hit the ground after an illegal screen at the start of the second half and took a little longer to get up. He went to the locker room with Deits but soon returned to the match.

For Black History Month, each player from the Ohio State wore black shirts with the name of an African-American inventor at the front and the invention at the back. Among those represented were Charles Drew (Blood Plasma Pocket), Henry Blair (Seed Planter), Sarah Boone (Ironing Board), Lonnie C.
