COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football gave its fans a much-needed dose of comfort and relief on Friday night.

The Buckeyes posted a photo of quarterback Justin Fields aboard the team’s plane to East Lansing, Mich. On their Twitter page Friday night. Fields wears a face mask and carries food up the stairs to the plane.

The state of Ohio is scheduled to begin at noon on Saturday and had previously been cautious about key players who may or may not be available due to the team’s increase in coronavirus cases last week.

The state of Ohio has not released the exact numbers or identities of those who tested positive, with the exception of coach Ryan Day. He remains isolated and has not made the trip. Day is expected to return to duty in person on Monday.

The state of Ohio is expected to release its situation report about two hours before kickoff on Saturday. It does not distinguish between reasons of illness, injury or discipline for absences.

The state of Ohio will be without some players against the Spartans. Chief team doctor Dr Jim Borchers said some players remain in isolation or quarantine in a press release on Friday. Day previously said the Buckeyes would be “a little shorthanded”.

This will apparently not include Fields, who will be looking to bounce back from his worst start as Buckeye in the 42-35 win over Indiana two weeks ago. He ranks among the national leaders for passing efficiency (202.1, fourth), yards per game (302, 12th) and completion percentage (79.6, first).
