Ohio State LB Gabe Powers’ engagement now 5 stars

Ohio State Linebacker Coach Al Washington was spectacular with his recruiting in 2022, including the landing of linebacker Olathe (Kan.) Blue Valley North Dasan mccullough who today announced a pledge to the Buckeyes. McCullough joins linebackers Gabe Powers from Marysville (Ohio) and linebacker CJ Hicks from Kettering (Ohio) Alter to give the Buckeyes a spectacular trio.

And now the Buckeyes also have a 5-star linebacker among the line. With the Rivals leaderboard update, Powers has moved to a 5-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite player rankings. Powers is now a 5-star prospect in the composite, No. 33 overall in the country in 2022, No. 1 outside linebacker and No. 1 overall in the state of Ohio.

The 6-foot-4, 218-pound Hicks is now a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the 81st overall prospect for the country in 2022, the 4th outside linebacker and the 2nd prospect for Ohio.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound McCullough is a 4-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite. He is the nation’s No.71 in the 2022 overall standings, the No.7 athlete and the No.1 in Missouri.

Powers played the middle linebacker heading into his second season when he moved up to the outside linebacker and made 90 tackles. The Buckeyes recruited him as an outside linebacker.

Powers has nearly two dozen scholarship offers including Penn State, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Nebraska, Michigan, Florida State, Tennessee, Colorado, Boston College, and Pitt before picking the Buckeyes.

Powers attended two Buckeye games last season, their victories over Michigan State and Penn State.

The Buckeyes also have a strong start to their 2022 recruiting class with commitments from Powers, Hicks, McCullough, the No. 3 in Ohio state in cornerback. Jyaire Brown and Ohio’s No.5 Class in 2022 as an offensive lineman Tegra Tshabola.

The Buckeyes also have a spectacular recruiting class for 2021 with 18 early engagements. Their engagement roster currently consists of 5-star quarterbacks Kyle McCord who was their # 1 quarterback target in the 2021 class, 5 star running back TreVeyon Henderson, 4-star ball carrier Evan pryor, two large 4-star receivers in Jayden ballard and Marvin Harrison Jr., tight end Sam hart, two of the country’s elite offensive line prospects in 5-star and 4-star Donovan Jackson Ben christman which is the first class of the 2021 offensive line prospect in Ohio. On the defensive end of the ball, the Buckeyes have another 5-star prospect in defensive flight Jack sawyer, Ohio’s top defensive tackle to Mike Hall, the nation’s second inside linebacker in Reid carrico, a trio of exceptional cornerbacks Jakailin Johnson, Jordan hancock and Denzel burke, top security in state Jaylen Johnson, 4 star security Tennessee / cornerback AndrĂ© Turrentine, No. 1 overall safety / athlete from Kentucky Jantzen Dunn and Australian bettor Jesse Mirco. The Buckeyes’ 2021 recruiting class is currently ranked No.1 in the country on the 247Sports Composite team recruiting rankings, leading Alabama’s No.2.
