OL moment of truth; QB offered is of great interest

Good evening to subscribers Noisettes! There are a lot of things to do with football recruitment in the state of Ohio, so let's start! I will obviously have many more during the night and tomorrow.

1) On December 11, the Buckeyes offered a purse to the 2021 quarterback J.J. McCarthy from LaGrange Park (Ill.) Nazareth Academy. McCarthy joined Pierre Preston from Texas and Drake Maye of North Carolina as quarters of 2021 at that time with an Ohio State offer. Since then, the Buckeyes have also offered other quarters of 2021, but their interest in McCarthy remains strong and their interest is mutual.

McCarthy traveled to Ohio State in early October and was present when the Buckeyes defeated Indiana 49-26. After receiving the Buckeyes' bursary offer, McCarthy said he would be traveling again to the state of Ohio. He now has this scheduled visit.

"March 23," said McCarthy. "I can not wait. (I will be with) probably my mom and dad, maybe another teammate.

McCarthy organized the visit with Ohio State game coordinator and quarterback coach Mike Yurcich.

"I talked to coach (Ryan) Day on Wednesday and coach Yurcich on Thursday," McCarthy said. "Coach Yurcich is putting everything in place and the 23rd is going for all of us."

McCarthy currently has 19 scholarship offers. Besides Ohio State, his list includes Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Northwest, Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and South Carolina.

"Ohio State is really high on my list at the moment," McCarthy said. "I love everything in this school."

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound McCarthy had a colossal sophomore season. He completed 76% of his passes for 3,448 yards with 39 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
