Christopher Eccleston, the British actor who played the role of ninth doctor in the sci-fi series "Doctor Who," is voiced on his fight against anorexia and suicidal depression.
In his next autobiography, "I love the bones of you," Eccleston talks about his sanity, describing himself as a "hate for the body for life".
Eccleston, who introduced the Time Lord to a new audience with the revival of the series in 2005, acknowledged the difficulty of expressing himself: "I have often wanted to reveal that I am all my life anorexic and dysmorphic.
"I never did it – I always thought of it as a dirty secret, because I am from the north, because I am a man and because I am a working class."
Eccleston was struggling with anorexia during his doctoral tenure: "The disease is still raging in me as a doctor.People like what I'm looking at in this series, but I was very sick."
In 2015, after the end of his marriage, he thought about killing himself. He later went to a psychiatric hospital, where he was diagnosed with severe clinical depression.
The healing of Eccleston began after the diagnosis, he writes, when he started taking prescribed antidepressants.
"I am on antidepressants so far, I could take it for the rest of my life, I have a problem, I would like to try to slowly reduce the dose to experience reality again, to see what I'm doing. " And, interestingly, I've received some of the best reviews of my life since I took them, "he writes.
