19 weeks. This is the period during which Lil Nas X managed to retain the top spot in the United States with her single, Old Town Road, this year.

Billie Eilish stole her thunder this week with her song Bad Guy.

Lil Nas X broke the record for the highest US charts, beating Mariah Carey, Luis Fonsi, Whitney Houston and other big names who have long been at the forefront.

He's joking on Twitter, he'll be fallen by his label now it is not at the top of the table.

But he also congratulated Billie and said she deserves to be number one.

Four months is long and America has changed a lot since Old Town Road passed the Billboard 100 on April 13, 2019.

Here are some of the things that happened in American pop culture at that time.

April 14: Tiger Woods wins the Masters

It was a great year for Lil Nas X – and it was pretty decent for Tiger Woods.

While some people were starting to enjoy fame, the golfer enjoyed his 22nd year of success by winning the US Masters Tournament for the fifth time in his career, 11 years after his last big win.

Hopefully Lil Nas X will not have to wait that long for his next career high.

April 14: Armed crimes

We could not go through that without mentioning gun violence in America.

According to ABC, ten deadly mass shots have taken place in the United States since Old Town Road reached number one.

The deadliest of all is the shooting at El Paso, a national terrorist who murdered 22 people and injured 24 others during a targeted attack against Hispanics.

April 22: Avengers: Endgame beats all movies

Before Lil Nas X became number one in America, the most profitable film of all time was Avatar.

After Lil Nas X became number one in America, the most profitable movie of all time is Avengers: Endgame.

The lesson here? Never underestimate the power of Chris Evans in a compact spandex.

April 29: President Trump visits the United Kingdom

Lil Nas X had a busy year and President Trump had a busy year. He deflected incessant calls for his dismissal, served White House hamburgers to his guests and promised to end "soon" AIDS and cancer, among other important political events.

But he also made a visit to the UK, three years after being elected to a US office.

During his stay, he said the Brexit "would work well" for Ireland, said Prince Charles, an environmental advocate, that climate change "was going both ways." "that turned out to make him sign.

May 19: Game of Thrones ends, people are crazy

OK, so maybe that was not the end that a lot of fans were hoping for (1.7 million people signed a petition thinking they could bring HBO back to the final series), but after eight years on TV, Game Of Thones made his decision. Own horse at the road of the old town and climbed into the sunset.

The latest episode was the most-watched HBO episode of all time, with 13.6 million viewers live on its first broadcast – although there are no official figures on the number of those who immediately went online to complain about it.

May 6: birth of former actress Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex

Lil Nas X was a new name for 2019 but you know who was new? Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

Less than a year after marrying Prince Harry, the former American actress gave birth to the little prince, seventh to the rank of the throne.

June 30: CBSA Rocky fights in Sweden

And while a musician was enjoying the best year of his career, for another American artist, 2019 was kind of nil.

ASAP Rocky spent the month of July this year behind bars in Sweden for an incident in Stockholm between his entourage and two men. He was convicted of assault in August.

ASAP is one of the biggest rappers in the world, but he never had a single card higher than number eight in America – so his freedom this summer would probably not have shaken Lil Nas X and his record is too long.

July 7: America wins the Women's World Cup

Lil Nas X proved that the affected country was not just what you could think of. The 2019 Women's World Cup proved that traditional football has much more to offer than testosterone and large payment packages.

Old Town Road is arguably the biggest song of 2019 and the Women's World Cup is certainly the biggest football tournament of the year.

August 11: separation of Liam and Miley

All good things come to an end: these brief weeks of British summer, Old Town Road to number one, the wedding of Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth.

The couple separated in early August and Miley abandoned a separation single a week later. Schedules did not allow Slide Away to compete with Old Road Road.
