Older (and bizarre) Pokémon designs discovered

[ad_1]

A cavalcade of early models of Pokémon was put online this weekend, thanks to the historians Pokémon of Helix Chamber. As we have seen when fans shared prototypes of old and abandoned Pokemon designs, there are tons of Pokémon (or "capsule monsters") here that have clearly inspired those we know. Red Pokémon, Blue, and green – but there are also several surprises, including one that seems to corroborate a theory of long-time fans.

Our last look at another batch of old and unused Pokemon comes from an anonymous source, says Helix Chamber, in a thread about how he acquired these assets. The source would not transmit all the playable construction of a Red Pokémon and green The beta was supposed to be, but they agreed to pass on a ton of assets to the Pokémon fan group. With the help of hackers, Helix Chamber rebuilt sprites in more detail, from Pokémon to coaches, to the original map of the Kanto region.

Several surprising and strange Pokémon appear in the Helix Chamber's conclusions. These include (with the names invented by Helix Chamber):

"Ohmega", which was a Kaiju-meets-mech at the Mechagodzilla;

"Bloonder", a sensitive and fighter ballooning Pokémon;

This Pokemon was a balloon. Fortunately, Jigglypuff has taken over the mantle of the Pokémon balloon.

And "Weirduck," in which Psyduck could have evolved before turning into his canonical evolution, Golduck.

But the most important finds are a couple of monsters named "Guardia" and "Totartle".

"This is the one that shocked us all," wrote Helix Chamber about Guardia, who looks like a Marowak holding a Pokémon baby. "The common fan theory that Cubone is a Kangaskhan baby has become a reality, in a twisted way; now, it seems that they have always been designed to be linked. In the end, Guardia would have become a loving parent for his Cubone baby, perhaps even after adopting (after all, he still has a skull on his head). "

Helix Chamber only has sprites facing backward in its asset dump, so we can not know exactly what Guardia's front looks like – whether or not it has a wallet like Kangaskhan. But on the back, it looks like a more adult Cubone:

Fans have long believed that Cubone, the lonely Pokemon who has evolved to become Marowak, is actually Kangaskhan's baby, grown-up, wearing the skull of his dead mother to hide her tears. There has never been any confirmation in the game or much evidence that this theory is true, but the dismissed design of Guardia suggests that fans may be right. Cubone may not be Kangaskhan's baby in the real Pokemon universe, but there is another reality: the two capsule monsters are connected.

As for Totartle, this Pokémon "is, as shown in the evolution list, the true evolution of Wartortle, exactly where we imagined it." It looks a lot more like Wartortle than Blastoise, from what we can see from the back – and there's even a separate mini Pokémon resembling the Blastoise in the sprite collection. It is possible that Blastoise was reworked in Squirtle's evolutionary line at the end of development, based on the findings of Helix Chamber.

The rest of what the band has shared so far is amazing to watch, especially the NPC's original designs, including a robot-headed guy, the rival of the player and his younger brother, and a gym boss. moron. Expect even more this gigantic dig in what is supposed to be this unpublished version of Pokémon. All assets are available in a ZIP file for you to explore at your own pace.
