Ole Gunnar Solskjaer responds to rumors that his 1999 knee sling would have contributed to retirement in 2007

Solskjaer defeated the winner in the 93rd minute, who defeated Bayern Munich 20 years ago, two minutes after Teddy Sheringham tied for the Reds.

The Norwegian made his way to celebrate and hurt the knee in the process – but there is no truth in the rumors that the damage would have contributed to his retirement in 2007.

"That's not true," he says. ESPN. "I hurt myself and tweaked my inner ligament.

"It had nothing to do with my [later] injury, but I missed two or three weeks and two internationals for Norway. But it was worth it. The party was worth it.

"I saw [the goal] so many times. I do not remember exactly what I felt because I was so focused on my work.

"I think it was bigger for everyone. I just did my striker job, which I had done so often before.

"It was just being in the right position at the right time."

Solskjaer brings his Manchester United side back to Camp Nou for the return leg of their Champions League quarter-final, 1-0 after a slight loss at Old Trafford.
