Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was caught uttering “a charge of f ****** absurdity” after a controversial VAR appeal went against Manchester United, according to MEN.

Rio Ferdinand, meanwhile, tweeted: “Shambles in progress here … ffs.”

Referee Kevin Friend had a big decision to make after a Luke Shaw foul was missed, resulting in a breakaway from United and Edinson Cavani toppling over.

Friend first gave Robert Brady a yellow card, before heading to the monitor to re-start the challenge.

There were fears in Burnley’s camp that Friend might override the red card reservation, as Brady was the last man.

But instead, Friend reviewed the progression of the foul and took a closer look at Luke Shaw’s foul on Johann Gudmundsson.

He then decided that Shaw should have been booked for the challenge, so he resumed play at that point and removed Brady’s yellow card.

Burnley then got a free kick just outside Manchester United’s area, but the free kick went nowhere.

Solskjaer was watching the drama unfold from the sidelines, and according to the MEN, he was caught saying, “Loaded with f ****** nonsense”.

Manchester United can go to the top of the Premier League with a victory over Sean Dyche’s Burnley at Turf Moor, ahead of Livrpool’s clash with the Red Devils on Sunday.
