LONDON (AP) – Olivia Colman, Oscar-winning actress, has been honored by Queen Elizabeth II, the queen she is about to play in the televised drama of the royal Netflix family, "The Crown".

Colman has been appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire, or CBE, in the Queen's annual birthday honors list.

The artist won an Oscar for best actress this year for performing the role of Queen Anne, queen of the eighteenth century, in "The Favorite". She plays Elizabeth in the third season of "The Crown", currently in production.

Colman said she was "totally thrilled, delighted and humbled" by this honor.

The queen also entrusted 64-year-old Elvis Costello, singer-songwriter, commissioner of the British Empire, or OBE, an honor far from her British roots in the 1970s punk and new wave scene.

In a website titled "In Her Majesty's Secret Service," Costello said he spoke to his mother before deciding to set aside "doubts and enmities" about his country's crown and past as a 39, British Empire and "gather the little grace I have." To accept the honor of the 93-year-old monarch on Friday.

It's a task that Costello made more palatable by dedicating the award to his grandfathers, who fought "for King and Country" during the First World War, "and because my mother told me to do it .

"To be honest, I am rather moved to receive this recognition from my" Services To Music "as this confirms my long-held suspicion that no one really listens to the words of the songs or that the result could have been somewhat different ", wrote Costello.

Anglo-Sri Lankan rapper MIA, whose real name is Mathangi Arulpragasam, 43, and Andrew Roachford, singer-songwriter behind Roachford, are among the other recipients of the Queen's birthday. Both were appointed members of the Order of the British Empire, or MBE, for services rendered to the music.

Honors are awarded twice a year, at the New Year and on the official birthday of the Monarch in June. (Elizabeth was born on April 21 and so celebrates twice.) They thank hundreds of people for their service to the British community or national life.

In descending order, the main honors are Knights, CBE, OBE and MBE. Knights are called "sir" or "lady", followed by their name. Recipients of other honors do not have a title, but can put the letters after their names.

The last list included the title of knight of Simon Russell Beale, one of the best actors of the British scene, who can now be called Sir Simon.

Recipients are selected by committees of public servants from nominations made by the government and the public, with awards being given by the Queen and other members of the Royal Family at the Buckingham Palace ceremonies.

Famous faces are usually in the minority. Most go to activists and teachers, doctors and police – people who do great things in small communities and often work for years without recognition.

Among this year's winners, seven Holocaust survivors received British Empire medals for their Holocaust education services: Walter Kammerling, 95, Ernest Simon, 89-year-old Gabrielle Keenaghan, 92, Ruzena Levy, 89, Ann Kirk, 90, Bob Kirk, 94, and George Hans Vulkan, 89,

Holocaust Educational Trust's director, Karen Pollock, said the survivors provided a "public service" by telling their stories in a climate of "rising anti-Semitism, denial of the Holocaust and hate ". Pollock said there were other survivors of the Holocaust recognition, and I hope they will be properly recognized as long as we can. "

The queen also bequeathed Knight to Boyd Tunnock, the inventor of Tunnock's Teacake, a candy wrapped in marshmallow chocolate.

"When you reach my age, very few things surprise you, but that's certainly the case and I am deeply honored and grateful to Her Majesty the Queen," said Tunnock, whose family-owned business manufactures candy in Scotland since the 19th century.

Artist Rachel Whiteread, winner of the Turner Award in 1993 for her concrete molding of the interior of a condemned house, became a lady, the female equivalent of a knight.

Novelist Joanna Trollope and Jack Reacher thriller writer Lee Child have been named CBE.

Like Costello, Feargal Sharkey, former singer of the band The Undertones, best known for his portrayal of the classic punk "Teenage Kicks" – was named an officer of the order of the British Empire, just like actress Cush Jumbo, star of the legal television series The Good. Fight."
