After Fauci read aloud a tweet wishing him a “happy man crush Monday” and praising his “intelligence” and “compassion,” he said to Rodrigo, “Well, that’s very sweet to say that.”
When asked if he knew what the term lovey-dovey means, he laughed, “No idea.”
“Man crush Monday is like Monday, people like to post a picture of their boyfriend and say ‘Ah, man crush Monday. That’s why I love you,’” Rodrigo explained.
The unlikely couple also share musical experiences in the four-minute video, which was posted to White House social media accounts.
“If I tell you the biggest concert I’ve ever attended, you’re going to pass out,” Fauci, 80, told the 18-year-old performer. “The reason is that I’m so old it dates back to the late 1950s at the Paramount Theater in New York City, which was a Motown concert with The Temptations, The Four Tops.”
“The sooner we get all the shots, the sooner we can enjoy going out with our friends and singing songs and all the fun stuff,” says Rodrigo.
The video, filmed on Wednesday during Rodrigo’s dazzling trip to the White House, comes amid pressure from the Biden administration to get more shots in the arms of young people.
A recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that COVID-19 vaccine coverage for young Americans lagged behind rates for older people.
Rodrigo also promoted her vaccine-focused visit to her large number of social media, sharing images of her alongside President BidenJoe BidenPence Refused To Leave Capitol During Riot: Book Father and Son Police Officers Accused of Joining Proud Boys in Capitol Riot On The Money: Five Questions For Democrats About Their .5T Budget | Retail sales rebound in June despite price hikes MORE and Vice President Harris and telling him to nearly 15 million Instagram followers that “getting the covid vaccine is the best thing you can do for your health and the health of your loved ones.”
