Over 295,000 books. raw beef have been recalled by an Omaha-based meat processor due to possible E. coli contamination of the product.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Inspection and Safety Service said on Thursday that Greater Omaha Packing’s had announced the recall.

The beef products, which were to be used in ground beef packages, were produced on July 13 and bear the establishment number “EST.” 960A ”inside the USDA inspection mark.
The packages were distributed in Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota and Nebraska.
The contamination was discovered when FSIS collected a routine product sample which confirmed the presence of E. coli, officials said.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse effects from consuming the products, the USDA said.
The ministry urges anyone concerned about an injury or illness to contact a health care provider.
E. coli, a bacteria found in feces, can be particularly harmful to infants, young children, the elderly, and people with weakened immune systems. The USDA has said it can cause dehydration, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal cramps for up to a week after exposure.
