The representative of the Republic, Ilhan Omar, responded to criticism of a family member of a 9/11 victim who had called his earlier remarks about the terrorist attacks during a reading in memory of the names of the victims at Ground Zero last week.

"September 11th was an attack on all Americans," said Omar, D-Minn., At CBS 'Face the Nation Day. "It was an attack on all of us, and I certainly could not understand the weight of the pain that the families of September 11th had to feel."

"But I think it's important for us not to forget the consequences of September 11," she added. "Many Americans have been deprived of their civil rights, which is why I spoke of the fact that as a Muslim I suffered not only as an American who was attacked that day, but the next day my American compatriots treated me now as a suspect.

On the occasion of the 18th anniversary of September 11, Nicholas Haros, whose mother died at the World Trade Center, wore a shirt with the words "Some people did something", a reference to the remarks made by Omar in March at an American council. – Fundraising of Islamic relations. She said the organization "was created after September 11, because she recognized that some people had done something and we were all starting to lose access to our civil liberties."

The New York Post blamed him "some people did something" and President Trump tweeted a video of Omar's remarks combined with images of the 9/11 attacks.

"That day, 19 Islamist terrorists, members of al-Qaeda, killed more than 3,000 people and caused billions of dollars in economic damage," said Haros Jr. during his speech. "Is that clear?"

He continued: "I was attacked. Your parents and friends have been attacked. Our constitutional freedoms were attacked and the foundation of our nation on Judeo-Christian principles was attacked. That's what some people did. Do you have that now?

It is a diverse congress and we are not only diverse in our race, our ethnicity or our religion, but we are also different in our perspective, in our pain and struggles, and in the hopes and dreams that we have, and the kind of America we want to shape for all of us.
