Once upon a time in Hollywood, spoilers

In the great tradition of cinema masters, the Russo brothers, Quentin Tarantino issued a letter urging critics not to give anything away Once upon a time in Hollywood spoilers. Tarantino's latest film should be premiered in Cannes. Although the filmmaker has never hesitated to criticize the concept of spoilers, it seems that Once upon a time in Hollywood the public will not come and Tarantino would like to keep them secret.

First thing first: although the hashtag that accompanies the image above is #NoSpoilersInHollywood, Tarantino – to his credit – never uses the term "spoilers" in the letter. Instead, the filmmaker wants to avoid revealing anything "that would prevent later viewers from seeing the film in the same way".

So what's going on here?

Personally, I think this letter has a certain ironic attitude. Believe it or not, Tarantino Is follow the news of cinema and cinema blogs, which means that he is (probably) well aware of the two letters published by the Russo brothers Avengers: war in the infinite and Avengers: End of the game. Letters in which the administrators affirmed that "Thanos demands your silence", urging the public to limit the errors as much as possible. I would not be surprised if Tarantino answers these letters.

That said, what are the big surprises that await us with Once upon a time in Hollywood? I have a theory that I have already talked about on this site. Once upon a time in Hollywood is taking place in the year 1969, with the Manson family hidden in the background. Margot Robbie plays Sharon Tate, the actress murdered by supporters of Manson. And Manson himself also appears in the film, played by Damon Herriman. Historically, we know what happens: Manson sends his followers and they kill Tate and his friends in a frenzy of violence. This can not be a spoiler – that's the story.

But what happens if Tarantino changes the story? The filmmaker has already done so. Basterds without glory presented another insight into the Second World War in which Hitler and virtually all high-ranking Nazi officers were slaughtered in a movie theater fire. And while Django Unchained does not have real-world characters, it always plays very fast and disregards historical facts.

With all this in mind, it is conceivable that Once upon a time in Hollywood returns the script and asked Sharon Tate to survive the Manson family massacre. This is only speculation, however. Tarantino's letter certainly tips this theory being correct, but there is always a chance that something else is going on here that takes us all off guard.

Once upon a time in Hollywood opens July 26, 2019.
