One person was killed and another disappeared after a twin-engine plane with three people on board crashed into a house near a public access airport in the area, causing a fire in the house.
The first reports of the incident in Dutchess County were reported around 16:30. Saturday, August 17th.
The aircraft, identified by the FAA as being a Cessna 303, left the Orange County Airport and stopped to refuel at Sky Acres in LaGrangeville. Sky Acres was heading to Republic Airport, located in East Farmingdale, Nassau County, when it crashed into a house on South Smith Road in Lagrangeville.
Earlier reports had indicated that the plane had left the airport of the Republic.
The scene of the accident is located about one kilometer south of Sky Acres Airport and just east of the Taconic State Parkway.
The person killed was one of three men in the plane, police said.
A woman who was at home has fatal injuries, and a man from the house can not be found, another woman was not injured, said state police.
Three dogs, a pair of golden retrievers and a Newfoundland, are also missing.

Hundreds of emergency responders are on the scene, with fire trucks, ambulances and state and local police vehicles throughout the region, as well as many closed roads in the region.
"We pray for all those involved in the plane crash," Dutchess County director Marc Molinaro said in a statement.
Molinaro said the Dutchess County Emergency Response Department, the Union Vale Fire Department, and many other organizations remained on site and "we are grateful to all our local first responders on the site and those who support ".
"Many of these men and women were waiting to be in Red Hook to celebrate the annual tradition of the Dutchess County Volunteer Firemen's Association Convention Parade," Molinaro said. "Instead, they are once again responding to the call of duty, and we pray for their safety as they respond to this critical event."
