Some people aren’t fans of display notches, and the ability to ‘hide’ a camera cutout has been around on many devices for quite some time. However, for Samsung Galaxy owners updating to One UI 3.0, the ability to hide the camera display notch seems to be gone.

The rollout of Android 11 in Samsung’s One UI 3.0 version has been a huge success so far, and it continues to move towards a wide range of eligible devices even before the Galaxy S21 is unveiled – which is significantly better than in previous years.

According to GalaxyClub.nl, if you want to hide the notch on your display camera, once you update your Samsung Galaxy device to One UI 3.0, you will no longer find the option in the device settings. . This is because the option shifts UI elements down and darkens the screen around the display cutout to simulate a front that does a reasonably solid job of “hiding” the selfie camera.

Samsung has kept the option pretty well hidden compared to some other OEMs. As you will need to head to Settings> Display> App full screen> Advanced settings. This will give you a button to “Hide Camera Cutout”, which then places a thick black border at the top of your screen. All in all, it’s an inelegant solution to a problem that won’t be fixed until the under-screen camera technology becomes truly viable.

However, those who want to hide the notch on their Galaxy devices might end up being less likely if it’s an integral part of One UI 3.0. This begs the question, is Samsung set to introduce some impressive under-screen camera technology in the not too distant future? Well, considering the previously leaked Galaxy S21 renders feature a prominent display notch, we wouldn’t bet for a while.
