OnePlus 7 & 7 Pro rumors: everything we know until now [Video]

[ad_1]

OnePlus has really reached its majority in the last 12 months. The release of OnePlus 6, then 6T, makes it a leading player in the field of smartphones. With the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro on the horizon, we have collected a lot of rumors in one convenient place.

Naturally, with the information coming through leaks, speculation and a mere assumption, it should be noted that we will still not be sure of all the details until the date of official publication.

Although leaks and treats send us into the frenzy of OnePlus rumors 7, they also attract the appetite for what has quickly become one of the most revealing of recent years. OnePlus knows how to tease us with enough means so that we can stay on the alert without revealing too much juicy information.

We expect the announcement of three separate devices, which has already been confirmed by the president of the company, Pete Lau. The first of these will be the OnePlus 7 and the second the OnePlus 7 Pro – the latter being a slightly brighter version of the more standard variant. The last option will probably be a 5G variant of the Pro model.

Pete Lau, in an interview with The edge, confirmed the existence of three handsets: "The OnePlus 7 will come with a plus-one: a super-flagship, called OnePlus 7 Pro, which will include a major upgrade of the display plus a 5G option."

Release date and availability

The official announcement of OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro will take place simultaneously in London, New York and Bangalore on May 14, while a secondary launch will be held on May 16 in Beijing.

As usual, the launch ceremony will be broadcast live directly from Printworks in London and probably transmitted simultaneously to each of the other sites. Fans who may have wanted to attend the launch will have at least one view of all events through the live stream, but tickets are also available directly from OnePlus for the three selected sites.

The launch dates are still all speculations, but pre-orders are likely to open shortly after the conclusion of the keynote speech. We give a rough but calculated estimate from mid-late May for the availability of devices.

Characteristics

Expect only the best interns, we expect key specs at a more affordable price, and OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro will not disappoint you. We expect all versions of OnePlus 7 to have the same basic internal components.

This means that the Snapdragon 855 chipset and a significant amount of RAM for smooth performance. This combination of power and light weight OxygenOS should result in unmatched performance on the market so far in 2019.

Assumed specifications

OnePlus 7

  • Snapdragon 855 chipset
  • 6 / 8GB of RAM
  • 128 / 256GB of storage

OnePlus 7 Pro

  • Snapdragon 855 chipset
  • 6/8 / 12GB of RAM
  • 128 / 256GB of storage
  • 4,000 mAh battery (Pro model only)
  • 30W chain load

OnePlus is known for stacking its devices with specifications that will help them last much longer than comparable-price handsets. Expect a base of 6 GB of RAM on standard OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro systems, which can be configured up to 12 GB.

We have heard very little information or even rumors about the potential battery capacity of the standard OnePlus 7, but this will probably not be lower than the 3,700 mAh capacity found in the OnePlus 6T. If it can match or exceed the battery life of the OnePlus 6T, we will be very happy.

Camera

Oneplus 7 Pro Teaser triple camera

Along with the display on the OnePlus 7 Pro, rumors were going well earlier in the year, as a result of a massive reshuffle of the camera. We have been waiting for an upgrade of the camera configuration for some time and the 7 looks should be duly delivered.

The rear of the 7 Pro is adorned with three cameras facing the rear, while the usual configuration of the dual camera is found on the 7. The most interesting aspect is the inclusion of a new sensor of 48 megapixels which surpasses the 16-megapixel sensor the 6T. Hopefully the quality will be significantly improved over previous models.

A triple camera teaser on OnePlus social channels explicitly confirmed the inclusion. We are expecting a 48 megapixel main sensor, a 16 megapixel sensor and an 8 megapixel commercial sensor with the OnePlus 7 Pro. We would imagine that it will be a 3x telephoto lens, an added telephoto lens for depth detection and a huge 48 megapixel sensor to guarantee quality.

Recent leakage of camera samples confirm the quality jump with the 48-megapixel sensor using pixel binning technology to produce high-quality 12-megapixel still images compared to a 12-megapixel sensor megapixels. For me at least, the quality of the OnePlus 6T camera was one of the only real things that prevented the camera from competing with the best phone in 2018.

The kind of dull Nightscape will come back too, we hope it has had some major improvements since its release. That said, we would be very surprised to see OnePlus' performance with cameras if it behaved optimally with the Night and Live Pixel modes on Huawei devices.

Regardless of past performance, we hope that some additional improvements will be made to the camera service in 2019. The introduction of new hardware will be a significant step in the right direction.

Features of the design and the device

With two distinct designs, there are inherent differences between the two handsets. We expected the 5G OnePlus 7 to be simply an upgraded Pro model.

First, the standard OnePlus 7 will act more like a bridge between the old 6T and the 7. It will have a very similar outer shell and base formula. Those who expect an in-depth review between Standard 7 and 6T will unfortunately be disappointed.

The most important inclusion in the new OnePlus 7 Pro will be that of a contextual camera. It will not have as funky design as the Oppo Reno 10x zoom edition, but a small module for face selfies. Questions remain as to how this sliding camera design will withstand repeated and extensive use.

That said, many other OnePlus shareholder sliders, Oppo, are designed for more than 200,000 uses. The OnePlus 7 Pro Sliding Selfie Camera is expected to handle similar use throughout its life.

We have seen the inclusion of a built-in fingerprint reader in the OnePlus 6T and this trend is expected to continue with all OnePlus 7 models. Improving speed and consistency is another issue, but biometric unlock option will remain. Fans of physical options, sorry, but it does not seem like he will come back.

Speaking of biometric security, we are inclined to believe that the contextual selfie camera will also offer you the option of unlocking your device, but it is unclear whether this could add to this heavy usage and ask questions about overall longevity.

Stereo speakers are expected for the first time on a OnePlus device. We expected the front earphone to serve as the main speaker, with the downward option working in tandem to produce better sound when watching media or listening to music. We do not know if this will be exclusive to the Pro model, even if, given the leaks, the standard 7 will look almost like the OnePlus 6T.

Colors

We expect a lot of colors at launch, we have several rumors about the colors available right out. Of course, you can expect to see the timeless version in black mirror alongside a new Almond option and the intriguing Nebula Blue.

It will be interesting to see if this Nebula Blue option has some resemblance to the Thunder Purple 6T released shortly after the official announcement of the 6T. We would not be surprised to see more links with brands later in the range resembling the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition released late last year.

Display

op7 display

Display is an area that seems to be missing on many OnePlus devices. This does not mean that they are particularly bad or not up to par, but that they have lagged behind the quality or quality of the industry.

We will see the first 90Hz display on a OnePlus device with OnePlus 7 Pro and the first QHD + screen to boot. We're slower on the standard OnePlus 7 display, but it's not expected to match the quality of the AMOLED on the Pro. We will probably see an FHD + option that does not include a refresh rate of 90Hz.

By the end of the year, image leaks showed an encapsulated device that appeared to be a prototype of a OnePlus unit without a display slot and with the usual drop-shaped option. Of course, the lack of notch on the Pro variant is due to the contextual selfie camera rather than any new under-display camera technology.

Regarding the sizes, we expect a 6.4-inch flat screen on the OnePlus 7 standard, while the OnePlus 7 Pro will come with a curved screen of 6.64 inches. The OLED display of the OnePlus 7 Pro also looks great, as independent DisplayMate researchers have given the panel an A + rating.

OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro Pricing

I think that one of the areas that has always attracted potential buyers to OnePlus and one of the main reasons they are so passionate about the devices is the incredible value they offer. . The initial low price structure has since slowly been eroded with each version of OnePlus, but it should be destroyed with the introduction of a Pro model.

Prices should start at $ 499 for the 6T successor, but the OnePlus 7 Pro will cost you $ 749 for the mid-level OnePlus 7 Pro with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Rumors regarding prices of OnePlus 7 do not include the option of entry-level storage of 6GB RAM / 128GB. This could however be at 699 €.

You'll pay € 819 for 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, by far the most expensive OnePlus device to date and very close to what other OEMs charge for handsets of the same type.

What OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro do not include

Wireless charging

Managing Director Pete Lau said in an interview with CNET that: "The OnePlus charge is one of the best" and that "the wireless charge is lower". It evokes of course the speed at which the device loads, where the wired load still has a very clear advantage.

Despite the recent technological advances of the companies, we do not think that the OnePlus 7 will come with wireless charging capabilities. This should not be confused with not wanting any form of wireless charging technology because we would like to be surprised by its inclusion.

microSD card extension

The OnePlus 6 put an end to the extension of microSD storage on the OnePlus line. It goes without saying that it is unlikely that the 7 reintroduces the option. If you are interested in purchasing a OnePlus 7 device (either one), be sure to choose one with as much storage as you think is "acceptable". The absence of microSD card reader means that you remain stuck in the factory allocation.

5G … initially

Although we were expecting a 5G compatible OnePlus 7 Pro at one time, we do not expect the device to come with 5G functionality immediately. Despite the statements of the Qualcomm Summit that OnePlus is one of the first manufacturers of smartphones 5G in 2019.

We have already been able to get closer to us with a prototype OnePlus 5G, which presented the device playing the streaming service of Shadow online games. Leaks have suggested that we will see the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G dedicated option later in 2019.

Android Q

We are a bit far from the full version of Android Q, so it goes without saying that the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro will ship with OxygenOS on Android Pie, as since the release of the 6T.
