OnePlus 7 Pro users report problems with "ghost touch"

The OnePlus 7 Pro was launched earlier this week to evaluate its QHD + 90 Hz display, internal specifications and relatively competitive pricing. Its launch is however not without problems, because it appears that some OnePlus 7 Pro devices suffer from "ghost manipulations", resulting in the presence of intermittent random touch events at the top of the screen without intervention of the user.

Several users reported that sometimes in an application or by typing on the keyboard, the phone was tapping something at the very top of the screen. Sometimes it 's only for a second, other times for a few good minutes. The problem seems to be random and intermittent, and sometimes you can not touch the top left or top right of the screen until the screen is turned off and then on again.

It seems that the problem is worse on some devices than others, many reports citing the CPU-Z application as a great way to test your phone to see if it suffered from phantom contact problems. For unknown reasons, the CPU-Z application triggers phantom contacts much more frequently, suggesting a software problem that can be solved with a software update.

We can confirm that at least one of our units has these phantom contact problems. This only happened twice during my four days with the handset up to now, the first time in WhatsApp for about 5 seconds, it's not a big deal. The second time, it lasted about 2 minutes and affected all the applications I was in, including the home screen. It is extremely difficult to navigate and type on the keyboard because the phone thinks you are touching something else.

It is unclear if this problem is related to software or hardware at this time. We hope that it will simply be a software bug that can be fixed with an OTA update. For the moment, we have solicited comments from OnePlus and will update this article as soon as we hear it. In the meantime, do you suffer from ghost contact problems on your new OnePlus 7 Pro?
