OnePlus 7 vs OnePlus 7 Pro: Which one should you buy?

Over the last three years, OnePlus has dominated the leading space of value by constantly reducing its competitors. The situation is different this year: the Chinese manufacturer is investing in the high end with the OnePlus 7 Pro, with an amazing screen at 90Hz, sleek design without notch and the latest hardware available to date. Along with this, the company also released the OnePlus 7, which has the same design as the OnePlus 6T from last year, but with much of the underlying hardware of the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Two phones for totally different audiences

I will not bury the projector here: the OnePlus 7 Pro is equipped with a high resolution screen with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, three cameras at the back and a battery of 4000 mAh with a fast charge of 30W. These are the three main differences between OnePlus 7 Pro and OnePlus 7.

With a 90Hz display and top-notch internal equipment, the OnePlus 7 Pro is the fastest phone I've ever used.

I will detail some of these points: the 90Hz display is obviously the flagship feature of OnePlus 7 Pro and it makes a huge difference in everyday use. I've used a lot of the device and the higher refresh rate, combined with the purified material on offer, makes the OnePlus 7 Pro the fastest phone I've ever used.

Everything charges instantly and the 90Hz screen eliminates any offset. All the interactions are fluid and the use of the phone has been an absolute joy.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7 has a more modest FHD + panel with the standard 60 Hz refresh rate found on most phones, two rear cameras and a 3,700 mAh battery with a 20W fast charge. If this sounds familiar to you, it's that the OnePlus 7 is nothing more than an updated version of the OnePlus 6T. So, in essence, this is the OnePlus 6TT.

The OnePlus 7 is a 6T and OnePlus 7 Pro mashup, and the combination works pretty well.

In fact, it has exactly the same panel as the 6T – a 6.4 inch AMOLED optical screen – as well as the same 3700mAh battery, the same 16MP front camera, the same vibration motor and the same sensor. fingerprint, and the same identical design. There is a new red color option that looks particularly interesting, but other than that, it's the OnePlus 6T that we all know.

But before completely rejecting the OnePlus 7, it should be noted some points. It has the same Snapdragon 855 chipset as the OnePlus 7 Pro, as well as the same 48MP camera at the back. There are also stereo speakers, UFS 3.0 storage and identical software.

So, what you actually get with the OnePlus 7 is a device with the 6T design and the internal OnePlus 7 Pro hardware. And it's a combination that works really well.

The OnePlus 7 is the obvious choice

OnePlus did it again. With the OnePlus 7 series, customers have more choices. There is the OnePlus 7 for those looking for value and the OnePlus 7 Pro is aimed at those who want the best of what the brand can offer. It's a smart move that will allow the brand to play on two fronts.

OnePlus has always been focused on creating value – in 2019, it's the OnePlus 7.

The OnePlus 7 is aimed primarily at the brands POCO, Honor and all other valuable brands that will launch devices under $ 500. The decision of OnePlus to launch the phone in markets like the UK and India confirms everything, because we will see the Honor 20 Pro and the product that POCO will decide to launch later this year.

The OnePlus 7 Pro goes against the real flagship products of Google and Samsung. This 90Hz display is absolutely fantastic, as is the rest of the material. OxygenOS is still my favorite third skin, and although I think OnePlus still has a lot of work to do on the front of the camera, the OnePlus 7 Pro is a great alternative to the Galaxy S10 + and Pixel 3 in the US. The fact that OnePlus does not sell the OnePlus 7 standard in the US should give you an indication of its strategy this year.

If you are in India, my choice would obviously be the OnePlus 7. The value offered makes it a phenomenal purchase in 2019, and you basically get the same hardware as the OnePlus 7 Pro with a substantial discount.

Of course, the OnePlus 7 Pro has a smooth, silky screen at 90Hz and a bezel-free design, but I do not think it's worth it, we have it for over ₹ 16,000 ($ 230). The OnePlus 7 Pro has more cameras on the back, but the telephoto and wide-angle lenses are not this super, and the OnePlus 7 has the same 48MP primary sensor. OnePlus has always been on the verge of delivering exceptional value, and the OnePlus 7 is this device in 2019.

For the rest of the world, the OnePlus 7 Pro can prove to be better value for money – it costs £ 649 in the UK compared to the OnePlus 7 at £ 499, for example.
