For Android updates, OnePlus is one of the most successful smartphone. At the time the company enters the world of televisions, OnePlus is committed to updating Android TV for three years.

In a message posted today on the forum, the CEO of OnePlus, Pete Lau, confirms not only that OnePlus TV will use Google's Android TV, but also offers official information on what OnePlus will do on the platform . Lau explains that after exchanging other ideas, Android TV was the only platform that allowed OnePlus to provide the experience it wanted to offer.
This is largely due to the fact that Android TV gives OnePlus TV access to the Play Store, Google Assistant and a platform for a "seamless" connection to an Android phone. OnePlus also claims to have entered into a strategic partnership with Google, which allowed OnePlus to optimize the platform to provide a "fast and seamless" experience. According to other statements, Google could incorporate some of these changes to the platform as a whole.
The biggest detail of this post, however, is that OnePlus will provide updates for OnePlus TV for three years. For an Android smartphone, this is beyond the usual promise of OnePlus, but for TVs, it's not a huge promise. Nvidia, for example, has been supporting its Shield TV for over four years now, and since full-length TVs have such a long lifespan, three years only scratch the surface. Of course, OnePlus promises these Android TV updates for "at least" three years. We therefore hope that the company will far exceed this total.
