The operations were suspended until further notice at the new post office in Prague for security reasons.

A notice was posted on the main entrance of the building on Saturday morning, March 23, in the morning. Several postal employees were in the back car park with the new Prague postmaster, Jorg Lewis.

Lewis could not provide much details about the reasons for the closure, stating that they were assessing the situation and that more information would be published if they knew more about it.

While he was talking, a man wearing a suit and an anti-mosquito mask came out of the building to talk to him. Lewis said the additional details would come from a regional spokesperson.

A statement from the US Postal Service indicates that mail and parcels that were inside the building at the time of closing are not recoverable until an environmental specialist has not been able to evaluate the building and consider that the entrance of employees is safe.

During the closure, New Prague's postal operations were transferred to the Belle Plaine Post Office, located at 233 North Meridian Street. The Belle Plaine post office is open from 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 11am on Saturdays. Holders of mail boxes and persons who have received notices of removal of items at the post office can do so at the Belle Plaine office with their photo ID.
