To all my Oracle friends and colleagues,
Although we all worked hard to close the first quarter, I decided that I needed to spend time focusing on my health. At my request, the board of directors has granted me sick leave. As you all know, Larry, Safra and I have built a strong team and I am confident that they and the entire management team will do a great job in executing the exciting plans we will present at the next edition of OpenWorld.
I love Oracle and I wish you every success during my absence.
Mark
"Mark has requested leave from Oracle to resolve some health issues and we all wish him a speedy recovery," said Oracle's founder, executive chairman and chief technical officer, Larry Ellison. "Oracle has an extremely competent CEO Safra Catz and an extraordinarily deep team of executives, many of whom hold long-term positions at Oracle. Safra and I will cover Mark's responsibilities during his absence with the support of the rest of our strong management team. "
"Mark was extremely involved in the sector until the end of our first quarter, but Mark now needs to focus on his health," he said. Safra Catz, CEO of Oracle. "We will miss him at our OpenWorld conference next week, but we understand that he has to rest and take care of himself."
