A federal appeals court in Washington, DC has lifted the stay of execution of a death row prisoner who was due to be executed later this month.
Lisa Montgomery, the only woman on federal death row, was due to die by lethal injection in December, but a federal judge has ordered a postponement.

Montgomery killed a pregnant Missouri woman in 2003, removing the baby girl from the womb and then attempting to claim the child as his own.
Kelley Henry, one of the convicted killer’s lawyers, told Fox News she contracted the coronavirus in November during a visit to Montgomery, delaying the preparation of her leniency case. The legal team argues that Montgomery suffers from a mental illness brought on by a childhood of rampant rape and abuse.
Henry, a public defender from Nashville, said: “She is under suicide watch and has received the highest mental health designation.”
