David Morris of Oregon State, a junior security who performed significantly when in good health, left the program after medically retiring.
An OSU official confirmed the news to The Oregonian / OregonLive. Morris, who started seven games and made 75 freshman tackles in 2017, only played one game last season.
Morris, a Sherwood High graduate, was an immediate hit in Oregon State, but spent as much time on the sidelines as on the court during a four-year career due to injury.
Morris missed most of the 2018 season with multiple foot injuries. In 2019 Morris played 10 games but only started six with a problematic hamstring. Last season, Morris played the opener against Washington State, then sidelined for the remaining six games due to injuries and COVID-19 protocol.
In four years, Morris played 24 games, starting with 14. He made 120 tackles, had one interception and forced two fumbles. Morris previously had a performance of 17 tackles in a loss to Minnesota in the 2017 season.
