Oregon stumbles, Iowa holds Nebraska

Friday’s college football roster served as a nice appetizer for the coming Saturday, and also provided confirmation of where the teams were placed in the top spot in Tuesday’s college football qualifiers. In particular, the ranking of No.15 Oregon seemed more appropriate after the Ducks dropped an 11-point lead at halftime and lost 41-38 to rival Oregon State.

Some thought Oregon was underestimated in the first CFP ranking, but Friday ended that thinking while bringing good results for a few other teams who some believed were overrated in the first poll. Take the example of Iowa. After arriving at No.24 on Tuesday, the Hawkeyes received some criticism. But they extended their four-game winning streak to Friday by passing Nebraska 26-20 and proving they might deserve to be ranked after all.

Finally, the No.13 in Iowa State and No.2 Notre Dame also won to position themselves to maintain their positions in the standings heading into Saturday as the college football season progresses. The Cyclones eliminated the 17th Texas 23-20, while the Fighting Irish eliminated the No.25 North Carolina 31-17.
