Martinez joins the center player Jarren Duran as recently placed players on the COVID-linked ILI. Test results did not come back for Martinez or Duran, Remarks Jen McCaffrey of Athletic. Connor wong was added to the active list in place of Martinez.
- Tanner Houck has also been added to the roster to make a debut in today’s doubles program, Remarks Abraham. He will be their 27th man. Houck has a 2.45 ERA in 22 innings, which includes four starts and two appearances out of the pen – his last start being on July 28. His Triple-A numbers weren’t as good, but no matter where he pitched, he struck out hitters, owning a combined 31.3% strikeout rate on the year.
- Elsewhere in the American League East, the Rays reinstated Collin McHugh from the injured list, optional Louis Head to Triple-A, by Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times (via Twitter). Head has been formidable when active, pitching 20 innings with a 1.35 / 2.71 FIP ERA. McHugh is no slouch himself, however, with a 1.51 / 1.36 FIP ERA in 41 2/3 innings. The two right-handers were able to fulfill a role of reliever of several innings for the manager Kevin cash.
- In the National League, the Philly put Chase anderson on the list of injured at 10 days with tendonitis of the right triceps, recalling Nick maton by Triple-A, by the team. With an ERA of 6.75 / 5.85 FIP for the year, one would think that Anderson’s rotation position would be up for grabs in his absence. (via Twitter).
