During this conversation with Fight Hub TV, Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya shares some thoughts on what he did with Canelo Alvarez’s last performance while talking about Ryan Garcia’s fight tomorrow against Luke Campbell. Discover some extracts below …
De La Hoya on Canelo’s performance against Callum Smith:
“He did very well. He did wonderful. Obviously I would have loved him throwing more combinations. He could have stopped her if he wanted to. I think he did a phenomenal job, I think he did a great job, but he needs more work to let go. I think he’s very accommodating right now. He’s in a place where he’s like, ‘Okay, I’m going to throw one punch, one powerful hit, two hits,’ but at the same time you have to make sure the fans have a show. You have to go, kinda like a Ryan Garcia, go there and you’re horny. But other than that, he did phenomenal.
Still planning to do business with Canelo in the future:
“Well, I mean listen, he’s a free agent right now and so obviously it’s all about the money. So I am very sure that in the near future we can present him with a very lucrative offer that will allow him to once again allow him to fight under the Golden Boy banner.
On self-confidence, Ryan Garcia will beat Luke Campbell impressively:
“I think Ryan Garcia is a hard worker, and he has the ‘it’ factor. It’s just basically that. He’s got the “that factor”, he’s a talented fighter, he’s got a chin, he’s got speed, he’s got the combinations, a good turn, but he’s got that “that” factor and it’s What makes the difference.
