Oscars: Congressman John Lewis' "green book" presentation has left some viewers upset

During a change of pace, the Oscars invited celebrities from outside the film industry to present the nominees for this year's Best Picture Award, including renowned civil rights activist and Congressman of Georgia John Lewis. But the way Lewis was used has left a lot of upheaval on Twitter.

Lewis is best known for his decades of activity in the field of civil rights advocacy, particularly because of injuries inflicted by state soldiers at the Edmund Pettis Bridge during the March of Selma in 1965. Amandla Stenberg, star of the black militant drama "The Hate U Give", joins the Academy Awards. Together, they introduced the introduction of "Green Book", which then won the Best Film Award.

"I can testify that the portrait of this time and place in our history is very real. It is engraved in my memory, "said Lewis about the Jim Crow South, in which the" Green Book "takes place.

"Our nation bears the scars of that time, just like me"

But "Green Paper" has been confronted with a multi-faceted reaction since winning the Golden Globe for best comedy or comedy in January. Dr. Don Shirley's family, portrayed in Mahershala Ali's Oscar-winning film, described the film as a "symphony of lies," while critics blame him for having made the film "lyrical". White plot, Tony Vallelonga, the central protagonist instead of Shirley.

Along with this, main star Viggo Mortensen was criticized for using a racial insult during a post-screening debate, screenwriter Nick Vallelonga issued tweets stating that New Jersey Muslims celebrated on September 11 had been exhumed, and an interview with director Peter Farrelly in 1998 telling how he would send his penis to Hollywood people while a joke would be unearthed.

In light of all the scandals and critical evaluations, many on Twitter were unhappy that Lewis was invited to present the "Green Book" rather than the film directed by black filmmakers like "BlackkKlansman" by Spike Lee or "Black Panther" of Ryan Coogler. which was filmed at Pinewood Studios near the Atlanta district of Lewis.

In addition to Best Picture, "Green Book" won Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actor for Ali and Best Original Screenplay.
