The film academy announced her nominations on Monday, and with it, the first concrete details of the 93rd ceremony, including the use of Los Angeles Union Station as the venue, after she was forced to relocate due to pandemic restrictions. Variety obtained an exclusive letter which was sent to all members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences by Academy President David Rubin detailing the conduct of the ceremony.
The academy will not host any in-person events, including nominations screenings, the annual nominees luncheon, or other programs. Additionally, the only people permitted to attend the Oscars will be the nominees themselves, their guests, and the ceremony presenters.
The telecast will be produced by Jesse Collins, Stacey Sher and Steven Soderbergh, which is sure to be an interesting ceremony. The academy recognized in Monday morning’s nominations a record number of actors of color, two female directors and one of the best photo lineups to date (in the final year of the sliding scale).
There hasn’t been an official announcement yet on a host, presenters or other details regarding the telecast, but the excitement is palpable throughout the industry.

Dear members of the Academy,
I join you in congratulating all of our Oscar nominees. We’re now less than two months from an Oscar performance at iconic Los Angeles landmarks, Union Station, and the Dolby Theater. A show that will undoubtedly be unique and memorable!
While we were hoping that the pandemic would be more in our rearview mirror by April, the health and safety of our members and Oscar nominees is our primary concern, so we had to make the necessary decisions regarding some of the issues. our events planned for Oscar week.
This year, those who attend the awards in person will be nominees, their guests and presenters – with an audience of millions watching and applauding from around the world. Therefore, we will not be able to run our annual ticket lottery for members.
We will also not be hosting in-person events, including nominations screenings, the Oscar nominees luncheon, and beloved Oscar week occasions like the International Feature Film Nominees Cocktail and public programming. for short films, documentaries, animated feature films and international feature films. Film and makeup and hair categories. I’m sorry to add that this year’s awards also won’t include a post-Oscar Governors’ Ball celebration, or Oscars Night watching parties in London and New York.
