CHARLOTTE, N.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) – Riley Howell had the physique of an athlete and loved being outdoors on his family's farm. Ellis Parlier studied computer science and liked video games.
The two students were killed Tuesday when an armed man opened fire in their anthropology class at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Four other students were injured.

Howell's 21-year-old family remembered him in a Wednesday statement as "a big muscular guy with a huge heart". Police said Howell was also a hero, after he attacked the shooter before he could shoot more people.
Parlier, a 19-year-old friend, said he was passionate about video games and that he had a benevolent personality. Jeremy Shue told the media that he had known Parlier for the 6th year.
"I did not know him. I do not know his family, but I have children. I know them and I like them a lot and I sympathize with his parents. I pray for them and I'm here for them, "Matthews Presbyter Pastor Luke Maybry told Parlier.
University Chancellor Philip DuBois announced Wednesday that the four injured students are expected to recover.
