Over 65,000 doses of vaccine wasted due to poor absorption

MONTGOMERY, Alabama (AP) – Alabama has seen more than 65,000 doses of COVID-19 wasted because health providers could not find enough people to take them before they expired.

Public health official Scott Harris gave the figures to reporters this week.

Harris said it was tragic to see potentially life-saving doses wasted.

Alabama is one of the least vaccinated states in the country. The state ranks last for the percentage of people fully vaccinated at 34%.

However, health officials have been encouraged by a recent increase in the number of vaccines given each day.
